For Ty and Lisa Bailey P’21 ’23 ’24, it all boils down to one word. Gratitude.

Ty has taught at Trinity College School for 23 years. Lisa plays a key volunteer role as past president of the TCS Parents’ Guild and co-chair of the School’s “Unlock Remarkable” Campaign. As Ty approaches his retirement, he finds himself reflecting on the special sense of community he has found here and the important role the School has played in his and his family’s lives.

These are ties that run deep. The Bailey family has experienced the impact of the School from multiple perspectives. All three of Lisa and Ty’s daughters have attended TCS. Ty and Lisa believe strongly in giving back, and support the School by donating to the annual campaign for current needs. Looking ahead to the future, Ty has created a gift in his will for TCS.

Lisa says, “The success of the School today is a direct result of people’s giving in the past; generous donations from alumni and their families which have enhanced the experience for everybody.”

Ty adds, “I have been privileged to work in such a supportive environment. It’s not just a job. Teachers and faculty genuinely care about the wellbeing of students. Students want to be here. Parents value the learning their kids are receiving. There is a focus on the mission of service, the importance of giving back. This is a common thread, and it has had lasting effects on our own children and other alumni.”

Having taught many students over his career, and in recent years, supporting students as a guidance counsellor, Ty says he sees first-hand the impact the School has on students’ lives while they are here, but also as they venture out into the world. He believes that their continued connection can change pathways and open up new horizons. As alumni they have a lifelong tie to the School, staying in touch with friends who live all over the world.

Why give back to TCS through a legacy gift? It all boils down to one word. Gratitude.

“I am grateful,” Ty says. “I want to give students in the future the opportunity to experience what I have experienced. To feel accepted, respected, to have a sense of purpose and belonging, to be part of this community.”

We are grateful to Ty for his dedication to the School for all these years – and his commitment to the future through a legacy gift. We thank Lisa for her commitment to the School as a volunteer.
